Exploring young peoples awareness of mental health in Northern Ireland

More than 20% of young people here are suffering ‘significant mental health problems’ by the time they reach 18.

We’re a group of nine young people made from the Belfast Youth Forum, Northern Ireland Youth Forum (NIYF) and Youth@clc and we came together in 2017 to explore issues connected to mental health and young people. But we don’t just want to explore these issues; we want to take action on them and make change happen. We want to make sure that as many young people as possible have a meaningful say in shaping the future of mental health education and support services.
We hope that young people use their voices to talk about mental health, to challenge the stigma and to push for change from our decision makers. We will use this research to help make all of this happen.
