Unresolved Trauma and Addictive Disorders - Janina Fisher

Tuesday 29th April 2025
2pm (GMT)
Online
FREE for Network Members
Overview
Childhood abuse and neglect can have a lasting impact on the brain and nervous system, leaving individuals struggling with overwhelming memories, emotional dysregulation, and impaired judgement. These neurological effects often lead to compulsive behaviours and substance misuse, with research showing that 40-70% of individuals in addiction recovery have a history of trauma.
Many treatment approaches either prioritise sobriety before addressing trauma or focus solely on trauma without considering addiction. However, effective recovery requires an integrated approach that addresses both trauma-related responses and addictive behaviours simultaneously. This webinar will provide valuable insights into understanding and treating individuals with co-occurring trauma and addiction.
Who Should Attend?
- Mental health professionals (therapists, counsellors, psychologists, social workers) - Addiction recovery specialists and substance - Medical professionals working with trauma-impacted individuals - Caseworkers and crisis intervention specialists - Anyone interested in understanding the complex relationship between trauma and addiction
