Anne Marie McKinley had the privilege of working as a Midwife and Counsellor in the Ulster Hospital Maternity Unit for ten years with parents who had experienced birth as traumatic. This service was audited independently in 2015 and 2019 and demonstrated improvements in women’s mental health and well-being. Anne Marie formed Afterthoughts Counselling and Training Ltd to provide training in a therapeutic model that addresses current research. She has developed a model of care that incorporates various disciplines through which clients most often report effective and significant relief to trauma and emotional symptoms. Her program of care includes Rewind, EMDR and Trauma-Focused CBT.
